A Well-Lit Path:

The Story of Tailslate Films

You might be expecting one of those third-person bios, the kind that makes it sound like some unseen narrator is waxing poetic about my career. But let’s be real—we’re living in the era of personal brands, and if I can light an entire set, I can certainly speak for myself. Besides, I’d rather establish a direct connection than pretend some PR ghostwriter is behind this.

So it goes as follows:

Spending years on set teaches you more than just technical skills—it teaches you how to adapt, problem-solve, and keep things moving no matter what a production throws your way. Over a decade ago I started out as a director of photography, which gave me a deep understanding of both the creative and technical sides of filmmaking. Over time, my passion for lighting led me to specialize as a gaffer, but with my dual experience, I can just as easily step in as a camera operator when needed.

After years of working in LA, I founded Tailslate Films, building it from the ground up while working on everything from feature films and short films to music videos for artists around the world. Along the way, I mastered the art of running a gear company, learned to communicate with every kind of personality a set can offer, and picked up an uncanny ability to solve problems before they even happen (or at least before anyone else notices).

Then came COVID—a turning point for many, myself included. I made the tough call to move everything, company and all, to New York, where Tailslate Films now operates. The mission remains the same: bringing top-tier lighting and grip solutions straight to set.

Of course, no matter how much experience you have, the film industry loves to keep you on your toes. New gear drops almost every year, changing workflows, setting trends, and making last year’s “must-have” rig feel like a museum piece. So, I stay ahead of the curve, testing, adapting, and making sure that what I bring to set isn’t just the best—it’s exactly what’s needed.

Whether it’s a small, efficient setup or a fully rigged production, I deliver the right tools, the right team, and just enough charm to keep things running smoothly (or at least make the chaos a little more enjoyable).
